Are You Experienced?

Jimi Hendrix once asked the question ‘are you experienced?’  It held different meaning to flower children, but for us at uWink, we’re getting ready to ask that question. Oddly the questions we keep getting are when are you opening?  Is the restaurant ready?  Is the menu ready? Is the software ready? We don’t look at it that way.  And we hope our customers won’t.  For us it’s about an experience.  You can’t separate the media from the food from the paint on the walls from the drinks from the napkins.  It’s one experience and a new one…..

Okay, but when are you opening so this can be experienced?

    :)

  2. Steve Says:

    Sorry, I couldn’t resist!

Yes, the experience sounds wonderful. What sort of questions do you expect? What’s odd about wanting to know when you’re opening?

  4. sagar Says:

agreed. there is nothing odd about wanting to know when you are opening, especially since many people here are potential or current investors.

I don’t think uWink setup this blog for investors. But call me crazy.

Crazy is a lot nicer than the names you were called after your $100 offer :)

I think they definitely had investors in mind considering these quotes from the blog…

“We are going to keep you up to date on uWink and Nolan Bushnell”

“…management team members and consultants who have invested in uWink include:”

“…taking 50% of his compensation in stock”

“…taking 62.5% of her compensation in stock”

“We also chose this location because it was important to our growth plans to have a relationship with Westfield.”

” I’ll let you decide which ones are doing over $8 million a year.”

All of those comments seem to be investor-related from my point of view. I think the blog is for potential customers, investors, and employees.

well i’ve called the mall and they have confirmed that uwink is in fact opening in september. called twice and spoke to different mall customer service personnel. a friend of a friend who lives in los angeles is going to visit uwink in person with friends once it’s open. they are gonna see how the place is for meeting people, how fun it is in general, and also how much time this new ordering system saves. this does sound like a interesting new restaurant concept, but unless i see it in person, it is hard to make up my mind if it will be successful. some pictures of the place posted on this site would be nice…

  8. sagar Says:

i will let you guys know what they say after visiting.

  9. sagar Says:

but i would have to say my number one concern with this place is still the food, even with uwink’s assurances that it is a number one priority and their hiring of a good chef. but all restaurants say food is their number one concern, so whether they will deliver we shall see.

Regardless of whether this blog was set up for investors or not (personnally, I think mr.2600 is correct - it is set up for multiple groups, including investors) everything hinges on it opening. Also, this is part of the Internet. Not everybody reading these messages and asking questions is from the L.A. area. So, there is alot of people (probably mostly investors or potential investors) that will not be able to experience uWink until they become national/international, so it is no suprise that folks are asking when it will open.

By the way, when is it going to open? :)

  11. sagar Says:

well according the latest press release, all personnel has been hired and final construction phase is in progress. so based on this and the fact the mall said uwink was opening in september, a good guess is probably 2-3 weeks.
